Fall 2023 Programming

Trainings for groups:
The Longhorn Wellness Center offers a variety of workshop options for your class or organization to promote mental health and prevent suicide. Workshops range from supporting someone in distress, preventing suicide, developing self-care habits and strengthening resilience. Trainings for students, faculty and staff:
We offer trainings for all members of the UT community who would like to elevate their skills and knowledge in promoting mental health for themselves and others. Learn how to create a culture of care on campus. Food provided.

Understanding Mental Health and Creating a Culture of Care

This training aims to ground participants in an understanding of mental health, share tips to manage stress and nurture emotional resilience. Participants will identify barriers to managing stress and learn practices to take care of themselves and contribute to caring social environments.

Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention: Supporting Yourself & Others

This training focuses on developing essential skills for promoting mental well-being and preventing suicide. Participants will identify mental health stigmas and the ways this prevents people from seeking help. Additionally, participants will learn skills to respond to distress and discern how to support others.

Mental Health Promotion Mini Grant Awardees 2023

The Longhorn Wellness Center is piloting a mental health promotion mini grant program. The goal of the initiative is to increase capacity for student organizations who want to host campus programming focused on mental health promotion and suicide prevention. Official or registered student organizations who are hosting a program, event or creating a project that directly focuses on promoting mental health can apply for the grants.
