Visual Voices – Make Your Own Lotus

Every year at Take Back the Night, we include a Visual Voices project that gives attendees a way to contribute to the conversation or show support to survivors through art. This year, we invite you to make your own origami lotus flower.

A lotus is a flower that blooms in the mud. The deeper the mud, the more beautiful the lotus

A lotus represents courage and rebirth – mirroring survivors’ journeys toward healing and recovery. Watch the video below to learn how to make your origami lotus.

If you would like to share your lotus on social media, tag us @UTAustinVAV or use the hashtags #supportsurvivors, #TakeBacktheNight and #TBTN2020.
