Messages of Support

Members of the UT community were invited to share messages of support for survivors in the form of written text, art or videos.

You are strong. You are loved. You have the power to overcome any obstacle that tries to stop you from living the life you deserve. Remember to take one day at a time; that your best varies day to day; and to be forgiving of yourself.

No matter what the situation was or who violated you, IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT. You deserve all the love, support, and respect that this world can offer. What happened with you is your story to tell, but your feelings are valid no matter what. I wish you all the very best on your journey of healing. You always have my love and support :)

Stay strong, I know it is hard to keep going especially during this time, but always remember you are stronger than anyone that has hurt you. You are the key to your future.

Thank you all for being so strong.

Whether you are grateful for quarantine because it keeps you safe, or you are dreadful of quarantine because it keeps you in a harmful situation, you are valid. Both gratitude and fear can coexist in whatever situation you are in.

If you feel alone or ashamed, remember that there are people, even if they're not currently beside you, who will listen.

Dear Survivors,
We believe you. We love you &. we are here for you.

- Gender & Sexuality Center Staff

May you be safe. May you feel held in the love we have for you. May you know your own strength. May you feel peace. You matter.

you are all incredibly strong. no matter how hard circumstances are, you persist and you keep going. do things that make you feel good and that nourish your soul and mind. i hope you experience as much calmness as your mind allows

Dear human,
You have been through an experience that is excruciating, but know that you can come out the other side if you do the work (whatever that looks like for you). It may feel like you are barely getting by or lost pieces of yourself, but you are strong enough to get past the days of survival mode to thrive. 'Even if you feel like you are at the end of your rope tie a knot in it and hang on.'

We believe you, we support you, your story is yours and it matters, you matter, we will always fight for you.

You don't have to share your story for it to be real, your feelings are valid and we support and care for you no matter what.

Thank-you for being strong and continuing to choose to get up each day. These days are hard, and we are all navigating these situations together. Know you are not alone in your hurting and please speak up if you need anything at all. You are a SURVIVOR... believe in yourself and chose to love yourself everyday. Thinking of you!

You deserve love, joy, and peace.

Cuz I'm my own soulmate, I know how to love me, I know I'm always gonna hold me down!

- Lizzo

I've taken comfort in knowing that no matter how lonely I feel, no matter how difficult things get, how off-track my life feels that I'm always, always enough. On top of that, I'm always amazing, you're amazing and there are always others out there who will love and appreciate you Queen/King/Your Majesty!

It was not your fault. Full stop. No ifs, ands, or buts. I believe you.

Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless and for showing others your strength.

- S.D.

Feminism softens the human loneliness of children, women, and the rest of us who have experienced any expression of sexual violence in our lives. We are here with you, we are in this together, and we are many. You are not alone. In solidarity

- Professor Gloria González-López

You are loved and worth so much. I'm thinking about you.

You are not alone. You are loved and have so many people that you don't even know who are willing to stand with you. The failure of the criminal justice system or of those in power doesn't mean that nothing happened. Because something did happen. Just because you may not have reported it doesn't mean it didn't happen. We hear you, we support you, and we stand with you. You are valid and no one can ever take that away from you.

We see you and we support you, even if your family, community, or a system didn't.

Every story has value. You have value.

I believe you! No matter where you are or what you are going through, remember that there is a community that will always believe you.
