Every year, VAV and the VAV Student Org celebrate Take Back the Night – a gender-inclusive, survivor speak-out to highlight the movement to end sexual violence. Take Back the Night marches, rallies, and events have taken place across the world beginning in the 1970s. These events are part of a larger, decades-long effort to end violence and oppression. At UT, Take Back the Night is an opportunity for survivors to share their stories and for the UT community to come together to show their support.
Although we can’t physically come together for Take Back the Night this year, we continue to support survivors and to celebrate the spirit Take Back the Night. These pages include performances, messages of support, an interactive Visual Voices activity, and campus and community resources. Also included are a calming mindfulness exercise and trauma-informed yoga. Please feel free to explore and interact with as much or as little of these pages as you’d like. If at any point you would like to talk to someone, please contact one of our resources.
