Being Present: Anxiety & Stress Relief Through Mindfulness

All groups are free and confidential.

Being Present is an interactive, skills-based group designed to help students who want to learn more effective coping strategies for anxiety, stress, and life in general. The emphasis will be on concepts and practices related to (a) mindfulness, and (b) changing unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior that contribute to anxiety and stress.

The group lasts 4 weeks, and two separate sections will be offered. Please note that both sections take place in the second half of the semester:

Thursdays 1:30-3:30

  • Information Session 10/19
  • Group Sessions 10/26-11/16

Fridays 1:30-3:30

  • Information Session 11/3
  • Group Sessions 11/10-12/8 (not meeting the week of Thanksgiving)

This group is interactive, structured, and skills-focused. We’ll be practicing new skills together, and you’ll be asked to spend some of your own time practicing as well. One of the most powerful aspects of this kind of group is the chance for you to connect with others who have similar concerns and, therefore, to feel less alone in your experience.

Interested students are asked to attend an Information Session before joining in order to hear more about the group and determine if it will be a good fit for you. Please specify which section of the group (Thursdays in Oct/Nov, OR Fridays in Nov/Dec) works for your schedule.
