Becoming a VAV Peer Educator

CMHC Voices Against Violence Peer Educators are trained through a two-semester course sequence offered for academic credit through the School of Social Work. Previous acting experience or a social work background is NOT required to be in the class. Students learn to devise and present interactive theatre scenarios geared to raise awareness and educate on the issues of relationship violence, sexual violence and stalking.

Theatre for Dialogue requires a two semester commitment to complete the following courses: Theatre for Dialogue

Theatre for Dialogue: Exploring Intimate Partner Violence (Fall) provides a background on interpersonal violence issues and interactive techniques that encourage audience participation.

Performance of Theatre for Dialogue (Spring) focuses on devising and performing interactive theatre scenarios based on the content learned in the Fall semester. Performances take place both on and off campus.

Class meets from 2-5pm on Wednesday afternoons. Class size is limited to 16 students. Registration for the course requires an application and interview. Please contact Lynn Hoare for more information, or download a PDF copy of the application below.
